MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND CULTURE LAUNCHES YOUTH IN HOLIDAYS CHALLENGE
According to NST1, Rwanda places youth at the centre of transformation by giving them a platform for decision making, social welfare, human development, entrepreneurship development and many more. The article 106 of the priority area 6 stipulates the increase of citizen’s participation, engagement and partnership in development.
As part of the implementation of GenU Rwanda, the Ministry of Youth and Culture in collaboration with UNICEF Rwanda, Ministry of Education, the National Youth Council have organized a holiday program dubbed “Youth in Holidays Challenge” to encourage young people to increase their involvement in civic engagement activities, contribute to solving challenges faced by respective communities as a way of keeping them safe, active and creative and using holidays as opportunities for growth and change-making.
Eligibility criteria
Being Rwandan Youth aged between 10-25 years
Scope of competition
The Youth in Holidays challenge will focus on issues (human security issues) affecting communities that call for young people civic engagement such as:
-Drug abuse
-Human trafficking
-Teen pregnancies
-COVID-19 pandemic
Candidates will showcase their skills and talents through:
-Short essays
-Short videos (demo, sketch, etc.)
-Poems
-Drawings/cartoon
-Songs
General criteria
Each proposal shall respond to the following criteria:
- Reflect orginality: innovation and creativity
- Aligned with civic engagement activities
- Relate individual experience
- Be an exemplary inspiration to young people
